Description
Spies pretending sincerity approach Jesus in public and ask whether it is right to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus perceives their duplicity and asks for a denarius. When the coin is held up before the crowd, he answers with perfect clarity: give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God. The trap collapses into stunned silence.
