Description
While teaching in a synagogue on the Sabbath, Jesus notices a woman who has been bent over for eighteen years and unable to straighten herself. He calls her forward, declares her free, and lays his hands on her; immediately she stands upright and praises God. The synagogue leader objects, but Jesus exposes the hypocrisy of valuing animals’ relief over the freedom of a daughter of Abraham, while the people rejoice and his opponents are shamed.
설명
안식일에 회당에서 가르치시던 예수께서는 십팔 년 동안 허리가 굽어 조금도 펴지 못하던 한 여인을 보신다. 예수께서 그녀를 앞으로 부르시고 자유를 선포하신 뒤 손을 얹으시자, 그녀는 즉시 몸을 펴고 하나님을 찬양한다. 그러나 회당장은 안식일에 고쳤다며 분노하고, 예수께서는 짐승에게는 물을 먹이면서 아브라함의 딸인 이 여인을 풀어 주지 않으려는 위선을 드러내신다. 사람들은 기뻐하고 반대자들은 부끄러움을 당한다.
