Luke 12 (vv. 13-21)

After a man asks Jesus to settle an inheritance dispute, Jesus warns the crowd against greed and tells the parable of a rich landowner whose fields have yielded abundantly. The man stands proudly before overflowing grain and newly planned barns, imagining years of ease and celebration. Yet the scene is overshadowed by divine judgment: in the midst of abundance and self-congratulation, his life is demanded that very night, exposing the emptiness of storing treasure for oneself while being poor toward God.

한 사람이 유산 문제를 해결해 달라고 요청한 뒤, 예수께서는 탐욕을 경계하라고 말씀하시며 풍성한 수확을 거둔 부자의 비유를 들려주신다. 그 사람은 넘쳐나는 곡식과 새로 지을 더 큰 창고 앞에서 자랑스럽게 서 있으며, 오랜 세월 편히 먹고 마시며 즐길 미래를 꿈꾼다. 그러나 이 장면 위에는 하나님의 심판의 그림자가 드리워져 있다. 풍요와 자기만족의 한복판에서 바로 그날 밤 그의 생명이 요구되며, 자신만을 위해 재물을 쌓고 하나님께 대하여 부요하지 못한 삶의 허무함이 드러난다.
