Leviticus 6 (vv. 8-13)

Through the night and into the morning, the altar fire continues to burn. A priest in linen garments removes the ashes from the burnt offering and places them beside the altar, then later changes clothes to carry them outside the camp to a clean place. Another moment in the same ritual cycle shows the priest adding fresh wood at dawn, preserving the sacred flame that must never go out.

밤새도록 그리고 아침까지 제단의 불은 계속 타오른다. 세마포 옷을 입은 제사장이 번제의 재를 제단 곁에 옮겨 놓고, 이어 옷을 갈아입은 뒤 진영 밖 정결한 곳으로 재를 옮긴다. 같은 의식의 흐름 속에서 새벽에는 제사장이 새 나무를 더해, 결코 꺼져서는 안 되는 거룩한 불을 지켜 낸다.
