Leviticus 19 (vv. 17-18, 33-34)

An Israelite reaches out in reconciliation to a neighbor after tension or offense, while nearby a foreign family is welcomed into the community with food, water, and protection. Rather than revenge or resentment, the people embody the command to love their neighbor as themselves and to love the foreigner as one native-born. The scene gives visual form to holiness as active, costly love rooted in Israel's own memory of being strangers in Egypt.

한 이스라엘 사람이 갈등이나 상처가 있었던 이웃에게 화해의 손을 내밀고, 가까운 곳에서는 한 타국인 가족이 음식과 물, 보호를 받으며 공동체 안으로 환영받는다. 복수와 원한 대신, 백성은 네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하고 타국인을 본토인처럼 사랑하라는 명령을 실천한다. 이 장면은 이집트에서 나그네였던 이스라엘의 기억에 뿌리내린, 적극적이고 대가를 치르는 사랑으로서의 거룩함을 시각화한다.
