Leviticus 17 (vv. 3-7)

An Israelite family brings an ox, lamb, or goat to the entrance of the tent of meeting instead of sacrificing in the open field. A priest receives the offering before the altar, and the ritual is shown with dignity and order: blood is presented at the altar and the fat is prepared for burning as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. In the distance, the empty open fields suggest the rejected practice of unauthorized sacrifice. The scene highlights worship centered on God’s appointed place and the rejection of idolatrous devotion to goat idols.
