Description
After the sanctuary and altar have been cleansed, Aaron brings forward the live goat. He lays both hands on its head and confesses over it all the wickedness, rebellion, and sins of Israel, symbolically placing them upon the animal. The goat is then led away by an appointed man into a remote wilderness, carrying the nation's sins far from the camp.
