Leviticus 14 (vv. 33-42)

After entering the land, a house owner reports suspicious mold, and the priest comes to inspect it. The house is emptied, and the priest studies the greenish or reddish depressions in the wall, then shuts the house for seven days. When the contamination has spread, stones are removed, walls are scraped, and the damaged materials are carried to an unclean place outside the town, showing that holiness extends beyond people to the spaces they inhabit.

가나안 땅에 들어간 후, 집주인이 수상한 곰팡이를 보고하면 제사장이 와서 집을 살핀다. 집 안은 비워지고, 제사장은 벽에 생긴 푸르스름하거나 붉은 움푹한 흔적을 자세히 조사한 뒤 그 집을 칠 일 동안 폐쇄한다. 오염이 퍼졌다면 돌을 뜯어내고 벽을 긁어내며, 손상된 재료들을 성 밖 부정한 곳으로 옮긴다. 이는 거룩함의 기준이 사람뿐 아니라 사람이 거하는 공간에도 미친다는 사실을 보여 준다.
