Lamentations 3 (vv. 27-42)

The chapter moves from hope to instruction: it is good to bear the yoke, sit alone in silence, put one’s face in the dust, endure disgrace, examine one’s ways, and return to the Lord. This is not despair but humbled repentance. The scene should show a community and an individual together in solemn self-examination, lifting hearts and hands toward heaven.
