Judges 4 (vv. 17-20)

Sisera escapes the battlefield on foot and comes to the tent of Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite, trusting the alliance between her household and Jabin. Jael steps out to meet him with apparent hospitality, invites him inside, covers him with a blanket, and gives him milk when he asks for water. The scene is charged with irony and suspense: the mighty commander is reduced to a weary fugitive, vulnerable inside the domestic space of a woman’s tent.
