Judges 21 (vv. 1-4)

After swearing at Mizpah that none of them would give a daughter in marriage to Benjamin, the men of Israel gather at Bethel in deep sorrow. They sit before the LORD until evening, raising loud cries and weeping bitterly over the near loss of one tribe from Israel. The next morning they build an altar and offer burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, seeking divine mercy and wrestling with the consequences of their own vow.
