Judges 19 (vv. 15-21)

The travelers arrive in Gibeah and sit exposed in the city square as darkness gathers, yet no one offers them lodging. An old man returning from the fields finally notices them, questions them, and urgently insists that they not remain in the square. He brings them to his house, feeds the donkeys, and offers food and rest, creating a sharp contrast between public neglect and private hospitality.

여행자들은 기브아에 도착해 어둠이 내려오는 성읍 광장에 앉아 있지만, 아무도 그들을 집으로 들이지 않는다. 들에서 돌아오던 한 노인이 마침내 그들을 보고 어디서 왔는지 묻고, 광장에 머물지 말라고 간곡히 권한다. 그는 그들을 자기 집으로 데려가 나귀에게 먹이를 주고 손님들에게 음식과 안식을 제공하며, 공동체의 냉대와 개인의 환대를 선명하게 대비시킨다.
