Description
The Danites attack the peaceful city of Laish, destroy it, rebuild it, and rename it Dan after their ancestor. In their new city they set up Micah’s idol, and Jonathan son of Gershom becomes priest for the tribe. The final image is deeply ironic: while the house of God remains at Shiloh, Dan establishes its own enduring center of false worship.
