Judges 15 (vv. 14-17)

As Samson approaches Lehi, the Philistines come shouting to meet their bound captive. Then the Spirit of the LORD comes powerfully upon him; the ropes on his arms become like charred flax and fall away. He seizes the fresh jawbone of a donkey and, in overwhelming strength, defeats a thousand Philistines. Afterward he declares his victory in a triumphant saying and throws the jawbone aside, marking the place with memory and name.

삼손이 레히에 이르자 블레셋 사람들은 묶인 포로를 맞이하듯 함성을 지르며 다가온다. 그때 여호와의 영이 강하게 임하자 그의 팔을 묶은 밧줄은 불에 탄 삼처럼 끊어져 떨어진다. 그는 나귀의 새 턱뼈를 집어 들고 압도적인 힘으로 블레셋 사람들을 무찌른다. 그 후 승리의 말을 선포하고 턱뼈를 던져 버리며, 그 장소는 기억과 이름을 얻게 된다.
