Judges 15 (vv. 1-3)

During the wheat harvest, Samson arrives at his wife’s family home carrying a young goat as a gift, expecting reconciliation and entry into her room. Instead, her father blocks the doorway and explains that he gave her to Samson’s companion, assuming Samson hated her, then offers the younger sister instead. Samson stands in stunned anger at the threshold, and this domestic insult becomes the spark for his resolve to strike the Philistines.
