Description
Unable to solve the riddle, the Philistine men threaten Samson’s wife, warning that they will burn her and her father’s household if she does not coax the answer from him. She weeps through the days of the feast and pleads with Samson until, worn down by her persistence, he finally reveals the answer on the seventh day. She then passes it to her people, and before sunset the men return with the solution, exposing the betrayal and provoking Samson’s bitter response.
