Judges 11 (vv. 1-3)

Jephthah, a mighty warrior but the son of another woman, is driven away by his half-brothers from his father’s household. The scene captures the moment of rejection: the legitimate sons stand near the family settlement and deny him inheritance, while Jephthah turns away toward exile. In the distance lies the rough land of Tob, where desperate men will later gather around him.
