Joshua 9 (vv. 6-15)

The disguised Gibeonites arrive at Joshua’s camp in Gilgal and plead for a treaty, claiming to have come from a distant land because of the fame of the LORD. They display their worn provisions as evidence, and Israel’s leaders inspect the dry bread and cracked wineskins. Yet despite their caution, they fail to seek the LORD, and Joshua makes a covenant of peace with them.
