Joshua 23 (vv. 1-2)

After many years of peace in the land, Joshua, now very old, gathers the elders, leaders, judges, and officials of Israel. The scene centers on the aged covenant leader standing before the assembled representatives of the tribes, his frailty visible yet his authority undiminished. This is a solemn national moment: the generation that has seen conquest and settlement pauses to hear the final charge of the man who led them after Moses.
