Jonah 1 (vv. 15-17)

The moment Jonah enters the sea, the raging waters become calm, revealing the power of the LORD over creation. On the ship, the sailors stand in stunned reverence, now fearing the LORD and responding with worship, sacrifice, and vows. Beneath or beyond this calm surface, the LORD provides a huge fish to swallow Jonah, preserving him in judgment and mercy. The scene should hold both serenity and mystery: the storm has ended, but a deeper divine drama has begun. It is a powerful image of judgment transformed into rescue.
