John 9 (vv. 1-5)

Jesus and his disciples encounter a man who has been blind from birth, sitting as a beggar along the road. The disciples ask whether his blindness was caused by his own sin or his parents' sin, but Jesus rejects that assumption and declares that this man's condition will display the works of God. He also proclaims, 'I am the light of the world,' framing the coming miracle as both a physical healing and a revelation of divine truth.

예수와 제자들은 길가에 앉아 구걸하던 날 때부터 맹인된 사람을 만난다. 제자들은 그의 눈먼 상태가 자신의 죄 때문인지 부모의 죄 때문인지 묻지만, 예수는 그런 생각을 부인하시며 이 사람을 통해 하나님의 일이 나타날 것이라고 선언하신다. 또한 '나는 세상의 빛이다'라고 말씀하시며, 곧 일어날 기적이 단순한 육체적 치유를 넘어 하나님의 진리를 드러내는 사건임을 보여 주신다.
