John 7 (vv. 45-53)

The temple guards return to the chief priests and Pharisees without Jesus. When questioned, they confess that no one ever spoke like him. The religious leaders respond with scorn, mocking both the guards and the crowd. In the midst of the hostility, Nicodemus cautiously appeals to the law, asking whether a man should be condemned before being heard. He is dismissed and ridiculed, and the assembly breaks apart. The scene reveals the contrast between honest witness, hardened pride, and a faint but significant voice for justice.
