John 7 (vv. 25-36)

As Jesus continues speaking in the temple, some in Jerusalem recognize him as the man the authorities want to kill. Confusion spreads as they wonder why he is speaking openly without being stopped. Jesus cries out that he has been sent by the true One whom they do not know. Though some try to seize him and officers are sent to arrest him, no one can lay a hand on him because his hour has not yet come. The scene captures visible human hostility checked by invisible divine timing.

예수께서 성전에서 계속 말씀하시자 예루살렘 사람들 중 일부는 그가 지도자들이 죽이려 하는 바로 그 사람임을 알아본다. 그런데도 그가 공개적으로 말하는데 아무도 막지 않는 것을 보고 혼란이 퍼진다. 예수께서는 자신이 그들이 알지 못하는 참되신 이에게서 보내심을 받았다고 외치신다. 어떤 이들은 그를 붙잡으려 하고 관리들도 체포하러 오지만, 그의 때가 아직 이르지 않았으므로 아무도 손을 대지 못한다. 이 장면은 인간의 적대감이 보이지 않는 하나님의 때 앞에서 멈추는 순간을 보여 준다.
