John 6 (vv. 1-7)

Jesus has crossed to the far side of the Sea of Galilee and sits with his disciples on a grassy mountainside as Passover approaches. A vast crowd streams toward him because they have seen his healings. Seeing their need, Jesus turns to Philip and asks where bread can be found for so many, while Philip, overwhelmed by the scale of the problem, answers that even enormous expense would not be enough.

예수께서는 갈릴리 바다 건너편으로 가셔서 유월절이 가까운 때에 푸른 언덕 위에 제자들과 함께 앉아 계신다. 병 고치는 표적을 본 큰 무리가 그분을 따라 몰려온다. 예수께서는 그들의 필요를 보시고 빌립에게 이렇게 많은 사람을 먹일 빵을 어디서 구하겠느냐고 물으시고, 빌립은 그 엄청난 규모 앞에서 큰 비용으로도 모두에게 조금씩 나누기조차 부족하다고 대답한다.
