John 4 (vv. 46-53)

Back in Cana, a royal official pleads with Jesus to come heal his dying son in Capernaum. Instead of going with him, Jesus simply says, ‘Go, your son will live,’ and the man believes his word. On the road home he is met by servants bearing the astonishing news that the fever left at the exact hour Jesus spoke, leading the official and his whole household to faith.

가나에 돌아오신 예수께 한 왕의 신하가 와서 가버나움에 있는 죽어 가는 아들을 고쳐 달라고 간청한다. 그러나 예수께서는 함께 가시지 않고 ‘가라, 네 아들이 살 것이다’라고만 말씀하시고, 그 사람은 그 말씀을 믿고 돌아간다. 집으로 가는 길에 그는 종들을 만나, 예수께서 말씀하신 바로 그 시각에 열이 떠났다는 놀라운 소식을 듣고 자신과 온 집안이 믿게 된다.
