John 4 (vv. 31-42)

As the disciples urge Jesus to eat, he speaks of a deeper food: doing the will of the One who sent him. Looking up, he points to the approaching Samaritans and teaches that the fields are ripe for harvest. The image becomes both literal and symbolic, as many Samaritans come, listen, believe, and finally confess that Jesus is truly the Savior of the world.
