John 4 (vv. 25-30)

After the woman speaks of the coming Messiah, Jesus plainly reveals himself: ‘I, the one speaking to you—I am he.’ At that same moment the disciples return, surprised to find him speaking with a woman. Overwhelmed, she leaves her water jar behind and rushes back to the town to tell everyone, while the people begin streaming out toward Jesus.

여인이 오실 메시야를 말하자 예수께서는 ‘너와 말하고 있는 내가 그다’라고 분명히 자신을 드러내신다. 바로 그때 제자들이 돌아와 그가 한 여자와 말씀하시는 것을 보고 놀란다. 큰 충격과 기쁨에 사로잡힌 여인은 물동이를 버려둔 채 마을로 달려가 사람들에게 알리고, 마을 사람들은 예수께로 나오기 시작한다.
