John 4 (vv. 16-24)

When Jesus tells the woman to call her husband, he reveals intimate knowledge of her life, exposing both truth and grace. Startled, she recognizes him as a prophet and raises the long-standing dispute about the proper place of worship. Jesus then lifts the conversation higher, declaring that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, beyond the old geographic rivalry.
