John 19 (vv. 31-42)

After Jesus’ death, the soldiers find that his legs need not be broken; instead one pierces his side, fulfilling Scripture. Later, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus come with linen and costly spices, reverently taking the body and laying it in a new tomb in a nearby garden. The chapter closes not in chaos, but in solemn testimony, care, and burial before the Sabbath.

예수께서 이미 돌아가신 것을 본 군인들은 그의 다리를 꺾지 않고, 대신 한 군인이 창으로 그의 옆구리를 찌른다. 이후 아리마대 사람 요셉과 니고데모가 세마포와 값비싼 향품을 가지고 와서, 예수의 몸을 정중히 모셔 가까운 동산의 새 무덤에 안치한다. 이 장면은 혼란이 아니라 엄숙한 증언과 정성 어린 돌봄, 그리고 안식일 전의 장례로 마무리된다.
