Description
When Jesus comes to Simon Peter, Peter recoils at the thought of his Lord washing his feet. Jesus answers that Peter does not yet understand, and warns that unless he is washed, he has no share with him. Peter then swings from refusal to wholehearted surrender, asking for his hands and head as well. Beneath the exchange lies a deeper tension, because Jesus knows that not every disciple at the table is truly clean.
