Job 30 (vv. 1-8)

Job recalls the kind of people who now dare to mock him: younger men from families once considered degraded and useless. They are pictured as gaunt wanderers driven by hunger, scavenging salt herbs and broom roots in a barren wilderness, banished from society and forced to hide in dry stream beds, rocky clefts, and holes in the ground. The scene establishes both their desperation and the shocking reversal that such men now rise against Job.
