Job 16 (vv. 15-17)

Job turns inward and presents himself in mourning. He has sewn sackcloth onto his skin, lowered his dignity into the dust, and wept until his face is red and shadowed. Yet even in that humiliation, he insists on his innocence, saying his hands are free of violence and his prayer is pure. The image combines grief, humility, and moral integrity.
