Job 14 (vv. 13-17)

Job’s longing for concealment and remembrance becomes a deeply symbolic burial scene. A cave-like tomb is set into a rocky hillside, its entrance dim and quiet, while above it the sky opens with gentle radiance. A lone figure, wrapped in burial cloth or seated in shadow near the tomb, is portrayed not as abandoned but as waiting. The light from above suggests the hoped-for future moment when God will call, remember the work of His hands, and cover over sin rather than count every offense.

숨겨짐과 기억되기를 바라는 욥의 소망은 매우 상징적인 매장 장면으로 표현된다. 바위 언덕에 동굴 같은 무덤이 자리하고, 그 입구는 어둡고 고요하다. 그러나 그 위 하늘은 열리며 부드러운 빛을 비춘다. 수의에 싸였거나 무덤 가까운 그늘에 앉아 있는 한 인물은 버림받은 존재가 아니라 기다리는 존재로 묘사된다. 위에서 내려오는 빛은 하나님이 부르시고, 손수 지으신 피조물을 기억하시며, 죄를 일일이 따지기보다 덮어 주시기를 바라는 미래의 순간을 암시한다.
