Job 12 (vv. 1-5)

Job sits in humiliation as he answers his friends with sharp irony. Though he has called on God and once lived as a righteous and blameless man, he is now treated as a laughingstock by those who sit in comfort. The contrast is stark: Job is visibly broken and isolated, while his companions stand or sit with confident expressions, embodying contempt toward the suffering man before them.
