Jeremiah 7 (vv. 16-20)

In the streets of Judah and Jerusalem, entire households participate in idolatry: children gather wood, fathers light the fire, and women knead dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven, while drink offerings are poured out to other gods. The scene shows how deeply rebellion has entered ordinary family life. Above this domestic ritual hangs the threat of divine wrath, not as a visible figure, but as a heavy sky and an atmosphere charged with judgment.
