Description
A terrifying army rises from the north, armed with bows and spears, advancing like the roaring sea on horseback. News of their coming causes the people of Jerusalem to lose strength, seized with anguish like a woman in labor. The roads and fields become places of terror, and the people are called to put on sackcloth, sit in ashes, and mourn as if for an only son because the destroyer is near.
