Jeremiah 6 (vv. 4-8)

The invaders prepare relentlessly for battle, first at noon and then by night as the daylight fades. Trees are cut down and siege ramps are raised against Jerusalem under the command of divine judgment. The city is condemned for oppression, violence, and unhealed wounds; its evil pours out as naturally as water from a well. The scene combines military preparation with the moral reason for the coming punishment.
