Description
After many years in exile, Jehoiachin king of Judah is released from prison by Awel-Marduk king of Babylon. He lays aside his prison garments and is given a place of honor above the other captive kings, eating regularly at the royal table. After the darkness of Jerusalem’s fall, this final scene offers a quiet image of mercy, dignity restored, and hope still alive in exile.
