Description
Once the mourners enter the city, Ishmael and his men slaughter them and cast their bodies into an ancient cistern built by King Asa. Ten men save their lives by offering hidden stores of wheat, barley, oil, and honey. The same violence extends to the rest of Mizpah, where Ishmael seizes the king’s daughters and the remaining people, turning the city into a place of death and captivity.
