Description
On the day after the assassination, before the news has spread, eighty men arrive from Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria. Their shaved beards, torn garments, and wounded bodies show deep mourning, and they carry grain offerings and incense on their way to the house of the LORD. Ishmael goes out to meet them weeping, masking deadly intent beneath a display of grief and piety.
