Jeremiah 41 (vv. 1-3)

Ishmael son of Nethaniah, a man of royal blood, arrives at Mizpah with ten companions and shares a meal with Gedaliah son of Ahikam. What begins as a scene of political hospitality turns into betrayal as Ishmael rises against Gedaliah and strikes him down, along with the Judean men and Babylonian soldiers present. The scene captures the shock of violence breaking into a moment of apparent peace.

왕족 출신인 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 열 사람과 함께 미스바에 와서 아히감의 아들 그다랴와 함께 식사를 나눈다. 정치적 환대의 자리처럼 보였던 이 장면은 곧 배반으로 바뀌어, 이스마엘이 일어나 그다랴와 그 자리에 있던 유다 사람들과 바빌로니아 군사들을 쳐 죽인다. 겉으로는 평온해 보이던 순간에 폭력이 갑자기 터져 나오는 충격을 담아내는 장면이다.
