Jeremiah 31 (vv. 15-17)

The chapter pauses its celebration to show deep maternal grief. Rachel, the symbolic mother of Israel, is heard weeping in Ramah for her lost children, refusing comfort. Yet into this sorrow comes a promise: her tears are seen, her labor will be rewarded, and her children will return from the land of the enemy.
