Jeremiah 24 (vv. 1-3)

After the exile of Jehoiachin and the leaders, Jeremiah is shown a striking vision in front of the temple of the LORD. Two baskets of figs sit prominently near the temple entrance: one filled with fresh, early-ripe figs of exceptional quality, the other filled with spoiled, darkened fruit so rotten it is unfit to eat. The prophet stands in attentive silence as the LORD asks what he sees, and the contrast between the baskets becomes the center of the revelation.

여호야긴과 지도자들이 포로로 끌려간 뒤, 예레미야는 여호와의 성전 앞에서 인상적인 환상을 본다. 성전 입구 가까이에 두 개의 무화과 광주리가 놓여 있는데, 하나는 일찍 익은 매우 좋은 무화과로 가득하고, 다른 하나는 먹을 수 없을 만큼 썩고 검게 변한 열매로 가득하다. 예언자는 깊이 주목하며 서 있고, 여호와께서 무엇이 보이느냐고 물으시는 가운데, 두 광주리의 극명한 대비가 계시의 중심이 된다.
