Jeremiah 22 (vv. 6-9)

The splendid palace of Judah, rich with cedar beams and royal grandeur, is shown under the shadow of judgment. Destroyers approach with axes and weapons, cutting down the fine cedar and casting it into flames. In the background, travelers from many nations pass by the ruined city in astonishment, asking why such devastation has come upon so great a place.

백향목 들보와 왕실의 위엄으로 가득한 유다의 화려한 궁전이 심판의 그림자 아래 놓여 있다. 파괴자들이 도끼와 무기를 들고 다가와 아름다운 백향목을 찍어내어 불 속에 던진다. 배경에는 여러 나라에서 온 행인들이 폐허가 된 성을 지나며, 어찌하여 이처럼 큰 성읍에 이런 재앙이 임했는지 놀라 묻고 있다.
