Jeremiah 21 (vv. 3-7)

Jeremiah delivers the shocking answer: the LORD Himself is against Jerusalem. The weapons in the hands of Judah’s defenders will be turned back, and the Babylonians outside the walls will be gathered into the city. God’s outstretched hand and mighty arm are revealed not in rescue but in judgment, with plague, sword, and famine hanging over the people, the king, and his officials. The scene is not graphic but overwhelming, portraying divine opposition through symbolism, collapsing confidence, and the dark inevitability of judgment.
