Jeremiah 21 (vv. 1-2)

During the Babylonian siege, King Zedekiah sends Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to Jeremiah. The messengers come with urgency and anxious hope, asking the prophet to inquire of the LORD, wondering whether God might perform wonders as in former days and drive Nebuchadnezzar away.
