Jeremiah stands near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and proclaims the word of the LORD to the kings of Judah and the people of Jerusalem. He denounces the place for foreign worship, incense to strange gods, innocent blood, and the burning of children to Baal, declaring that the valley will no longer be called Topheth but the Valley of Slaughter.
