Jeremiah 16 (vv. 1-4)

Jeremiah stands alone after receiving the word of the LORD that he must not marry or raise children in the land. Around him, ordinary signs of family life are absent, and the future is overshadowed by a coming disaster in which children and parents alike will fall without mourning or burial.
