Description

The chapter opens with a shocking declaration of final judgment. Even if Moses and Samuel, two towering figures of intercession in Israel’s history, were to stand before the LORD, God’s compassion would not turn toward this people. Jeremiah is shown receiving this terrible word as the people are symbolically sent away toward different fates: death, sword, famine, and captivity. The scene should communicate the irreversible nature of judgment and the silence of mercy.
