Isaiah 66 (vv. 1-2)

The chapter opens with a majestic declaration of God’s transcendence over all creation. Rather than being confined to a human-built temple, the Lord is portrayed as enthroned in heaven with the earth beneath him like a footstool. In contrast to human grandiosity, the focus narrows to the kind of person God truly favors: the humble, the broken in spirit, and the one who trembles at his word.

이 장은 하나님께서 모든 창조 세계 위에 초월적으로 계심을 선포하는 장엄한 선언으로 시작된다. 하나님은 사람이 지은 성전에 갇히시는 분이 아니라, 하늘을 보좌로 삼고 땅을 발판처럼 두시는 분으로 묘사된다. 인간의 웅장한 건축과 자만심과 대조되게, 시선은 하나님께서 참으로 기뻐하시는 사람에게 모아진다. 곧 겸손하고 심령이 통회하며 하나님의 말씀 앞에 떠는 사람이다.
